Recently the in George W. Bush's reelection campaign has shown their concern for women of America. They have placed a good face showing that concern. Laura Bush, the First Lady has going around speaking to women saying her husband cares a lot about women. Even Dubya has shown his thoughtful concern for women in a stump speech early last month in Missouri by saying "Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country". This concern concocted by Team Bush makes women Republican supporters show that Bush loves all women in this country. This "concern" however, based on Bush's record has been nothing farther from the truth.
Farther from the truth? How can you say that President Bush record has been "farther from the truth" if he has two women serving in his cabinet?
Despite having Condolezza Rice as the first Black woman as Bush's National Security Advisor and Elaine Chao as the first Asian-American woman in the Labor Department these two women like all women in the Republican party are used as fronts to show that Republicans are in the 20th century at least. These women are also figureheads who have little power. The real power in the Republican is all the rich, conservative, and religious White men. The men with their narrowminded intention dictates why the Republicans are staunchly anti- women.
In the past three years the Bush's policies on women's concern has been reflected by his conservative base showing their contempt against women in gaining any equal rights. In first few months of the Bush administration has defeated the Equal Pay initiative a measure to make sure that women are paid equally. Currently women are paid 77 cents to the dollar less than men. Equal pay is one of the main tenents of the Women's Rights Movement. Another main issue is reproductive rights, something that the conservative men are ardently against. According to The Guardian Bush administration spends billions of dollars promoting abtainence to women of the world. They don't advocate use of any contraceptives to prevent sexually transmitted diseases from spreading. The conservatives contend that using contraceptives don't really prevent STD's. They say that abtainence and only abstainence is the only way. Since this program of abstainence has any proof of working, third world countries in many parts of the world suffer harshly under this inept concept.
On the issue of abortion the Bush, Republicans and the religous conservatives alike are radically against. These Anti-Abortion advocates and their backers has stated over and over that aborting a fetus is equal to commiting a murder. The Bush Adminstration has not made any attempts to get the right-leaning Supereme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade but they had made ways to slow down any access and any abortion procedures away from women. Last winter's Partial Birth Abortion Act which criminalizes doctors and hospitals for preforming this procedures in the late term of the pregnancy to save the mother's live or to remove a deformed fetus. What is so shocking about it is at the singing of the bill in the picture above there is nothing but men surrounding the "President" are all men. That's right! All of them are men! You don't notice that there is no women from the Republicans party even supporting this abusurd law. This photo shows the true power of the Republicans is vested in the power of the White men.
Education is something important to women. The recent No Child Left Behind Act left many of the childern behind when Bush the "Education President" decided to underfund his own law to enforce the tougher standards on stuggling schools. According to The Guardian Bush has cut funds for programs such as Head Start and libraries. (It has to make Laura Bush cringe inside because she herself was a librarian.) For childern to go without any daycare or any libaries to go to you have to wonder if Bush does live up to the monkier of the Education President
You have to wonder why all these women are going for the Republican party. With their inept plans that thet spew out and their apparent anti-women mantra, I have to question to these women why do they just accept these dumb-laws that affect you as a woman or your daughter or your sister or your girlfriends. Why can't you challenge your male counterparts that what they are doing is bad for them?
As I said before the women in the Republicans are nothing but figureheads with little, if any power. They are just there to soften or to make their male counterparts hard-line ideas sound sweeter. In the conservatives eyes women are supposed to be under the thumb of men and to obey them.
So the Bush Republicans trying to court the women on their side with their dismal record against women is nothing but a mismatched pair.
