I do want to speak about the Democratic debates that was on MSNBC on Thursday and share some of my thoughts about each of the canidiates :
Hillary Clinton: Hillary is on the top of the list because I really do care for her. I know some others out there don't like her for her vote about the war and it is why I put her first on the list. Personally Hillary is a very smart woman. It would be cool to see a woman running the country. She will make things whole lot better for this country's reputation after the mess Moron Boy and Heartattack Darth Cheney has made. Overall, in the debate she carried herself well of her goals for the country. However what will hurt her is her reason for voting for the War in Iraq, and her contant refusal to give some legit reason for it. Clinton has always said "If I knew then ,what I know now I wouln't have voted for the War." or " I voted because of the evidence I had at the time." When she said this I was willing to give her some benefit of the doubt but she can't keep using that excuse over and over again. She will have to come clean about or it will be her downfall for the nomination of the presidency. As we may recall, back to the leadup to War in 2003, 23 Senators and 133 Congressmen voted against the Iraq War Resolution. Amongst the 23 Senators who voted against the bill was :Jon Corzine (now Governor of New Jersey), Barbarba Boxer, Jim Jeffords the Independent from Vermont with Patrick Leahy, Russ Feingold, Carl Levin, Debbie Stabenow, Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, Paul Wellstone, Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye from Hawaii, Paul Sarbanes and Barbara Mikulski from Maryland and others with the 133 Congressmen in the House saw the light. They saw that what BushCo was selling they wasn't really buying. They also knew with the information that was out there that a thug like Saddam Hussein could not be a large theat to all of us with the supposed WMD that was there. At that time the inspections were being done to show that Saddam had no WMDs. As we know now BushCo just ignored the facts to get their bloody oil war. So Hillary, If you thought by voting for the war was going to insulate you from being a constant target of the wingnuts out there and keep you from looking "unpatriotic" in front of the Moron-in-Chief and his vile administration then say so. We will understand. Her refusal for saying why she voted the way she voted will be unacceptable until she comes clean.
Barack Obama: Obama is my boy! I do like him, he is pretty good on the debates. However, I still feel that he still needs more time in the Senate (only 3 years in) as a candiate for the first true Black president other than Bill "Bubba"Clinton he has a lot of potential. I still feel he's not ready yet for the Oval Office. I would not stop from continuing his campaign for the nomination.
Christopher Dodd: Chris Dodd was average but OK. He really needs to explain himself more. At least on the question about what mistakes he has made he has admitted to voting on the War.I giv Dodd credit for that Some of his points about the Supreme Courts abortion decision question he was pretty execlent .
Joe Biden: At least Joe Biden did not but his foot in his mouth this time. Biden was fast on his feet with the answers. Did pretty well with the Supreme Court partial birth abortions question.
John Edwards: I think Edwards was pretty good here. He has made a very clear distinction from the others. His focus on issues of poverty in the country his strongest advantage here. Besides the flack from the $400 haircut he is a pretty strong candiate.
Bill Richardson: New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson was pretty good but sometimes he strays off just a little bit. I think he makes a good Secretary of State in a democratic presidental administration based on his diplomacy credentials.
Dennis Kuchinich: Congressman Kuchinich is a good candiate for the soul of democracy and for that he should be the president. However in the real world that would never happen. I give him great credit for keeping Hillary and Obama and the rest of them on their toes. However the next canidate Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel outpaced and outshined Kuchinich greatly.
Mike Gravel: After hearing some info about the former senator from Alaska on Randi Rhodes he is indeed pretty good. At first, he seem to attack every candidate throughout the debate. Although, he wasn't heard much during the debates. After a second look and learning more about him his points really put everybody on edge. People like him are very rare these days. The electorate don't want an honest talking senator like Gravel they want the ones that will give them the nice happy talk from the majority of politicians. Gravel's statements also made the audience to really pay attention about whats going on in the goverment and the not let the candidates get away with so much and keep them on their toes.
Overall, the first debate was good . Each of the candidates did somewhat distingush themselves from each other. Each was pretty cordial to each other. But I would like to see a debate where people are nearly arguing to each other. It was way too nice. Mike Gravel tried to make it possible but was unsucessful I feel that these debates while good for the American public is too structured with the 30 second rebuttals and 1 minuet answers. It was more focused on just Hillary and Obama . The lesser known candidates Kuchinich and Gravel are going to be labeled as "fringe" candidates by the Mainstream media. These two are very important for the survival of our democracy post Chimperor Deciderus. Both Kuchinich and Gravel wanted to place attention of Americans to become more active and partcipate of the goings on in government and advoid the happy talk of the top tier candidates. Both Kuchinich and Gravel stuck their horns to the rest of the candidates about their votes and their current feelings in the Iraq War which will be the true test of a candidate's electablilty for president.
I would like to hear your own thoughts about the candidates if you have comments or criticisms and who would you pick to be president and why. And keep the comments coming!
'Till next time
À bientot, amis! :D
