Monday Musings-08/23/10

Just some of my thoughts of yesterdays issues before I confront the issues of today.

They are called RIGHTS people. It's never up for a majority vote!

There are some people out there mostly Conservatives, who swear their sordid love of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers who made it and all the fake professed love for it until, there some parts of the Constitution that they don't like. It's very weird for these people to say things like that. It's like going up to a very fine, very attractive girl or for the ladies a handsome guy that you love. You love him or her with all of your heart, and then you nitpick and say he/she is very ugly and not beautiful and perfect is they are expected to be. It really shows that you really didn't like the girl or guy at all except the only time you pictured him or her to be. That's the same thing with these Republicans and Conservatives with the Constitution they never really liked in the first place. Only certain parts they really like and the others they never like. With Conservatives and the Constitution, it's like this: Forget the First Amendment provisions applying to everybody; it applies only to me with my speech, my press (FAUX News) and my religion. Second Amendment: We love the right to bear arms, except the part of keeping a "well regulated militia" No, the pretend "militias" army wanna-be's chumps don't count. Forget about the 4th Amendment on search and seizures we are just going look in your shit anyway. The 14th Amendment: It really applied to slaves not these "I-legals" and "anchor "and now "terrorist" babies. These people want to do away with your rights because it serves them politically. This talk about stripping rights away is nothing but a distraction from what they can't talk about, ruining this country even more with more tax cuts to the rich, cheap labor and a damaged economy. The Republicans want to place us on the fast track to being a third world nation. That's all it is folks. People are losing jobs, corporations are finding the cheap labor overseas and they want to talk about "anchor babies" or "terror babies" are coming to get you. Except the fact that there is no such thing as an "anchor baby" or the ridiculous "terror baby" it's another ploy to scare the White folks and the very gullible. Children born from undocumented people (I won't use "illegals" here) can still be deported regardless if the child was born here. In order for the undocumented parent to become citizen the child have to be 21 years old to sponsor him or her (Some proof right here) Another issue, the recent California Prop 8 trial in federal court that proved the California law unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment Equal protection clause. Conservatives are going apeshit over the gays marrying. Right wingers are up in arms of infringing on people to vote on law denying rights to a minority. In Arizona, parts of SB 1070 the "Papers please" law was struck down which is good. The Right Wing is up in arms over that after Governor Jan Brewer and her cohorts were scaring you shitless of an Arizona being the place of lawlessness. "That's the place where beheadings and kidnapping are happening" they say, "We need to stop them i-legals from coming in here and taking our jobs. It's totally wrong. It's all about the Arizona Governor helping her private prison clients for a state that's already broke. They now want to put a law to take away citizenship status of children of undocumented people. That's absurd! It doesn't matter of how much a right winger claims to love the Constitution only to want take the rights in them away because they don't like certain parts of it you cannot take the rights away for political gain or expediency just because you don't like the group of people who are getting them. This why they are not called INALIENABLE RIGHTS it can't be taken away from you nor it can't be voted away. Despite people may tell you on an issue sometimes the majority is wrong. If we put rights to a vote we will still have slavery today, no interracial marriage and women can't vote because a majority thinks otherwise. Let's understand that we do not have a direct democracy we have a representative democracy. That means we vote for the people to represent us and advocate and pressure our issues to. Our only power is to vote for those who serve our best interest to serve us. So the next time a Conservative loves the Constitution roll your eyes ask them "Tell me what parts you don't like?" Of course they will stutter to answer.

Mosque, No Mosque

The proposed site of a Muslim community center on Park Place over an old Burlington Coat Factory building that is two blocks away from the World Trade Center site and the fake outrage about it is despicable. We do have to think of the victims of 9/11 and their families but we do have keep in mind that we have the freedom of religion in this country. It is good for the developers of Park51 to stand their ground and great for President Obama for standing up for the First Amendment. Despite the President's defense, I know how predictable the opponents of the proposed site, right wingers and Obama haters are going to react on the support of the freedom of religion in the First Amendment. If we cannot tolerate any religion from practicing their religion and force places of worship to move to places that won't "offend" other people, then we would have lost our own values as Americans for the comfort of "security". It's another non-issue that the right wingers want to play on you in a sick way to remember the 9/11 attacks and fool you to vote for them. These people who are speaking the loudest about placing a mosque anywhere in America really don't want anything that smells or looks like Islam around them. Another thing calling the building "scared ground" if there is a OTB horse betting parlor and a strip club on the same block just because it is close to the World Trade Center site. Let's remember the ones that attacked us Al Qaeda with Osama bin Laden using his twisted form of Islam attacked us on September 11, 2001 not Islam. Islam is a religion of peace a religion of brotherhood not the scary burkas or Sharia laws that you hear bandied about in the media its all BS. I say, let them build the community center and invite all the 9/11 victims and families with all tolerant Americans to gain some understanding about Islam and bridge the divide.

Blago, Shmago!

Recently former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was convicted of one of the 24 charges against him in federal court. That one charge was lying to the FBI. The remainder of the charges against him involving racketeering and using his office for his personal gain was undecided. The other charges ended up in a hung jury at his trial in Chicago. Blagojevich will be retried for the remaining 23 charges against him later this year provided that he doesn't say or do anything more stupid. Let's remember Blagojevich or "Blago" as the press calls him is a slimy, swarmy mutherf*ker. This is the guy who said he's got a "fucking golden" opportunity to get something out of auctioning off Obama's senate seat. Now that he's got the one charge on him that fucker is still flapping his gums. He really needs to go to jail on the PDQ! According to a family member of mine who works in the Illinois state government, Blago came in promising everything to everybody when he first came to office. After a while he pissed on all of them by breaking his promises to them. Now that he's out he wants to be a celebrity, a very bad one. The more he stays in the spotlight the more I cringe and the more Illinois residents dread going through this nightmare. Blago just got to go…. to jail where he belongs!

Finally out!

Last week we finally can say "Major combat operations have ended". You now do the "Mission Accomplished" banner and the whole hoopla with it. Unfortunately it came 7 years too early to do that. We have lost countless lives in Iraq all for a lie. There were no Weapons of Mass Destruction, of course. We destroyed a country and multitudes of its people for what, for more oil? So we can pay a lower price at the gas pump while morons like Sarah Palin can chant "Drill, Baby, Drill"? Its good most of our men and women are finally coming home. We should thank them for their wonderful service. They should come home to a grateful nation. I won't naïve to think that is all of military will leave. We will still be there in some way. We do have an embassy twice the size of the Vatican to protect and many our men and women have to still be there. The good thing: We got rid of Saddam (Which was our guy in the first place, see Rummy shaking hands with him.) The bad thing: We left the country in near anarchy. So tell me folks, what did we learn from this? Not to invade a country that's not armed with weapons. Go to war for the right reasons and the backing of the people. Stop using war for the benefit of your corporate friends? When you are trying to claim victory make sure you don't call it prematurely? Don't alienate your allies by calling them "weasels". Don't further alienate your closest ally by mocking them and changing the names of things and calling them "freedom fries". Try hard as you can to listen to all objections to going to war and working hard to get a diplomatic solution. I could go on and on about this but I want to ask you what do think of the lessons learned from the misguided Iraq war?

Dr. Laura, Dr. Laura, Dr. Laura….

Poor Dr. Laura Schlesinger, she pulled a Palin and a Carrie Prejean after her record breaking N-word fest after a black female caller called her for advice. The caller felt that her husband a White man did not stick up for her when his friends told off color jokes about African Americans. Dr. Laura went on a diatribe about now how since African Americans now have a President they shouldn't complain. Dr Laura went on about the caller's marriage to her husband by chastising here of marrying outside her race. Then she used the N-word 11 times with the caller. After the sponsors had enough of Dr. Laura they were going to cut her money. Dr. Laura decided to leave and complained that her First Amendment rights were infringed prompting all the conservative sympathy towards her. Dr. Laura forgot that the only way her freedom of speech was infringed if the Government (the one you guys keep saying it doesn't work) prevents you from saying the things you say. She doesn't like people responding to her offensive comments. The worse thing was the Queen of all Morons Sarah Palin's Twitter comment and this one too well was what you expect from her. According to the Queen Moron the N-word is ok but "retarded" is not. OK. Just wait until Dr. Laura will land at FOX News.

Confusing my religion

I saw on FOX News last Friday that reported that nearly a fifth of Americans are confused about President Obama's religion. Oh! I thought, why all the confusion? The White House released a statement stating that the President is a bona fide Christian and he prays daily. But that confusion was big news over at Fox. I wonder if you guys were calling him a Muslim all the time. Even with the controversy with his pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright you guys were still calling him a Muslim. Even right now, with the fake controversy of the Islamic center at New York, when Obama standing up for the freedom of religion provision of the First Amendment Obama is still a "Muslim." Maybe FOX and right wingers need to stop calling President a Muslim to end the confusion.

I will try to keep this part of my blog as regular as possible!
